单元重点词汇点拨
    1.place地点，地方
      Beijing is a good place.北京是个好地方。
      Hangzhou is my native place.杭州是我的故乡。
      【点拨】该词是可数名词，也可作动词“放”讲。其他词组：in place of代替，take the place of代替。
    2.hospital医院
      He works in a hospital.他在一家医院工作。
      Kate is in hospital.凯特住院了。
      【点拨】in hospital是“住院”的意思，而不是“在医院”的意思，in the hospital在医院。另外，go to hospital去住院，go to the hospital去医院，be taken/sent to a hospital被送进医院。
    3.stop停车站
      We should get off the bus at the next stop.
      【点拨】a bus stop汽车站。该词还可作动词“停止”，stop to do是“停下，去干另一事”的意思，stop doing停止正干的事。如：
      After a few minutes,we stopped singing.几分钟后，我们就不唱了。
      After a few minutes,we stopped to sing.几分钟后，我们停下来去唱歌了。
    4.post邮政，邮件
      The post hasn't come yet.邮件还没到。
      【点拨】该词亦可作动词“邮寄”讲，by post通过邮寄。如：
      Can you post the letter for me?你能替我把这封信寄了吗?
      He let me get the beautiful present by post every time.他每次都把精美的礼物寄给我。
      We will send you the textbooks by post as soon as possible.我们会尽快把课本邮寄给你。
    5.fruit水果
      What kind of fruit do you like best?你最喜欢什么水果?
      【点拨】该词为集合名词，fruits 指各种各样的水果。如：
      What fruits are in season now?现在有哪些水果上市?
    6.station车站，站，所
      He works at the railway station.他在火车站工作。
      【点拨】a police station警察局。
    7.police警察，警务人员
      If you lose your way you can ask the police for help.你如果迷路的话，可以找警察帮忙。
      【点拨】该词为集合名词，单数使用policeman(男警察)，或policewoman(女警察)。
      注意：当police作主语时，谓语动词用复数。如：
      The police are running to Road 101.警察正转到101大道。
    8.bookshop书店
      You can find this book in this bookshop.你可以在这家书店买到这本书。
      【点拨】该词为book+shop的合成名词。bookstore也作“书店”讲。
      There are a lot of picture books in that bookshop.书店里有许多画册。
    9.similar相似的，像
      These two girls are similar.这两个女孩长得很相像。
      This house is similar to that one.这所房子和那所很相似。
      【点拨】注意be similar to中to为介词，意思是“和……相似”。如：
      This hospital is similar to that on in many ways.这所医院和那所医院在很多方面很相似。
    10.dialogue对话
      Read the dialogue,please.请读对话。
      【点拨】dialogue也可以拼写成dialog。
    11.need 需要，必须
      I need your help.我需要你的帮助。
      She needs it very much.她非常需要它。
      Does he need to know?他有必要知道吗?
      Do you need dictionary now?你现在需要用字典吗?
      He doesn't need to go to the meeting.他不必去参加会议。
      Need you (he)go soon?你(他)有必要这么早就走吗?
      You needn't talk so loud.你们不必这么大声交谈。
      Need we start at once?No,you needn't.(Yes,you must).我们必须立即动身吗?不必要。(是的，你们必须立即动身。)
      【点拨】need作实义动词时，应随主语的单复数变化而变化，因此有时态变化。疑问句或否定句要用助动词do(或does)。作情态动词时，无人称、数和时态变化。其否定形式是needn't(=need not)。另外：在回答need作为情态动词时提问时，否定式No后面不说must not，而用needn't，肯定式Yes 后不说need，而说must。如：
      —Need you go before ten o'clock?
      —No,I needn't.(Yes,I must)
    12.practise练习，实践
      She practises speaking English every morning.她每天早晨练习说英语。
      Practise more,you'll be better.多练习练习，你就会好一些。
      【点拨】该词后+ing形式作宾语，不接不定式。其名词为不可数名词practice。如：
      Practice makes perfect.熟能生巧。
      I get up at five in the morning to practise playing the piano.我早晨5点起床，然后练习钢琴。
    13.along沿着，顺着
      There are trees along the river sides.沿河边有树。
      He is walking along the river.他正沿着河走。
      【点拨】该词为介词，也可作副词表“向前”，“和……一起”。如：come along来吧，一块来。其他词组：get along/on with“进展，和……相处”。如：
      How are you getting along with your work?你的工作进展得怎么样?
      I am getting on well with it.
    14.turn转(弯)，翻转，旋转
      The earth turns around the sun.地球绕太阳旋转。
      Go ahead and turn to left at the post office.一直向前，在邮局处向左拐。
      Please turn to page4.请翻到第四页。
      【点拨】其他词组：turn into变成，It is one's turn to do轮到某人干……。
      We will turn our garden into a beautiful one.
      It is your turn to clean the classroom.
      注意：当turn作为系动词表“成为”时，其后没有冠词。试对比：
      One of my friends has turned doctor.我的一个朋友当了医生。
      One of my friends has become a doctor.
    15.turning(路的)转弯处
      Where's the next turning?下一个转弯处在哪儿?
      There's a big stone at the turning.在转弯处有一块大石头。
      【点拨】at the next turning 在下一个拐弯处，a turning in history 历史的转折，a turning point转折点。
    16.street街道
      Many people are in the street.街上有许多人。
      Don't play in the street.不要在街道上玩。
      【点拨】in/at the street在街上，go down the street沿街而行，the Wall Street(美国)华尔街(纽约的金融中心)。
